DAVID HOLT
This summer, we are delighted to host an exhibition dedicated to a name synonymous with American folk tradition. David Holt, a four time Grammy award winner, celebrated musician, storyteller, and longtime collaborator with the late Doc Watson. Best known for preserving and performing traditional Appalachian music, David has spent decades documenting the mentors who shaped him.
This exhibition offers an early look at photographs and paintings by David that will appear in his upcoming book, titled Mentors and Friends, The End Of An Era, which is currently in development.
As David has said, “One of the greatest things in my life has been to get to know and learn from so many wonderful mentors. As it happened, I was able to witness the end of an era, the last of the pioneer generation. These folks have a power and wisdom that you just don’t see in the modern world. They grew up before self-doubt was invented.”
